Black and White

Black and White

March 12 9:30am - 11:00am
Edmundston Arts Centre
82 Canada Road, Edmundston, NB

You will take part in an inspiring meeting with Adolphe Kameni, a visual artist renowned for his use of black and gray, which he exploits in all their richness and depth. During this Déjeun'art, he will share his artistic journey, the formative experiences that led him to painting, and the thinking behind his bold choice to work exclusively in black and gray. He will explain how this limited palette allows him to play with contrasts, light, and textures while creating large-format works.

Short biography: Originally from Cameroon but now living in Edmundston, Adolphe Kameni discovered his talent for drawing at an early age, representing his school in several art competitions. He also draws for his friends and family, guided by his talent and desire to grow. In June 2022, he presented his first solo exhibition under the theme Exploration in Black and White, followed by another exhibition in March 2023. During this period, he also led a Génie Art project with students from the CDJ stained glass school, entitled Our Culture: Our African Neighbors. His creative spirit drives him to imagine, design, and construct his works like an architect of the imagination. Since discovering acrylics, painting has become a true refuge and a driving force for his creativity.

Déjeun'art: Déjeun'art is a friendly activity that invites the entire community to gather over coffee and muffins to discover the world of an artist. The goal is to promote the arts and showcase the work of local creators. In a relaxed atmosphere, participants will have the opportunity to explore the guest artist's artistic universe, learn more about their approach, sources of inspiration, and career path. This gathering encourages exchange, curiosity, and dialogue between the public and artists.

This activity is free, but registration is recommended to facilitate organization.
